THE FOUR BOYS CLUB
We've all been 15 once. And we remember what it was like, don't we? Right on the edge of that chasm beyond which lies the maybe wonderful maybe not so world of adulthood, some of us found ourselves running around like headless chickens, blind, aimless; while others cruised through it, being their confident, secure selves. We were proud and pissed off, cocky and confused. The Four Boys Club (also called Quartet of Mayhem) is my attempt to slip back to the time that was both unforgettable and, if I can say it, a nightmare. Charles Dickens might not have said "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times," in the context of 15-year-olds, but it surely strikes a deep chord.
This podcast is a series of short stories, which covers the worlds of four 15-year-olds: Shanky Vai, Baalan "Bandem" Asra, Ankur "Anpag" Benza, and Mompy Arda. Part coming-of-age and part drama/suspense, it has been inspired by Stephen King's The Body (and its brilliant movie adaptation, Stand By Me).
